I am happy to announce that our system has solved university timetables with up to 13 sites and 1300 courses with 10 subjects each (12000 subjects were defined). It means that there is possibility to solve whole university timetable simultanously with all teachers and rooms shared. It took about one week on one processor machine but can be descreased yet to hours or minutes on a multiprocessor computer. Three sites and the same number or courses an
d subjects took only an hour on single processor computer.

The new timetable generator v 4.0 has been deployed. Main improvements are due to inconsistencies remover and timetable optimizer. More about this you can find in the user guide.
The system has been tested and proved its ability to solve school & university timetables up to about 3000 students and 140 courses.
Based on data comming from timetables during 2008-2010 y. efficiency of the version 4.0 was 100%. It means that all lessons was arranged in all timetables after removing inconsistencies & optimization. Solving time was about 7s in avarage for smaller timetables to 15s for the big ones by 1000 timetable size units. The timetable size unit is defined to be: (time of lessons * number of days * number of subjects).

The system gives an access to JSON-RPC webservice. Now you can use simple remote procedure calls to contact generator engine and your timetables. This way an integration the generator with another system is extremely easy.

An unique system of constraints prorities allows you to get a solution after just one clickon "Generate" button
More info you can find on the main page, in the user guide and on forum.

In 2010 y it has been planed some tests with timetables of the size up to 70 000 students and a lot of sites.

In new version 3.0 devision students into groups is now much more easier (students' packets , automatic division).
Students' packets are the new preferred way for groups defining. One can aggregate several student bodies /courses/ into a new one /student body/.
See: User guide.

Based on experiencies of using the generator in the year 2009 new functionalities have been introduced in current version (v3.0).
It was possible to simplify the process of timetable generation (e.g. pupils groups & student bodies creation) and make using system much more comfortable.
Other features of version 3.0:

  • defining of subjects, teachers and so on is now much more easier,
  • deviding students into groups is now much more easier (students' packets , automatic division),
  • students' packets are the new preferred way for groups defining (one can aggregate several student bodies /courses/ into a new one /student body/),
  • cooperation with external systems is now possible,
  • registration of students into courses online by WWW browser is possible both before and after creation of timetable,
  • automatically generation of account for students, teachers, classrooms managers with invitation sending,
  • "First elements" option is turned on,
  • limit of student for courses can be defined,
  • unification of terms (especially within constraints priorities),
  • it is possible to stop generator now,
  • new weaker limits (see: "FAQ. Limits" at the user forum)
  • corelating or separating subjects through groups of subjects.

Do not forget to check what else.
